Longboard Surf Photography Sydney

There's something about a well-ridden longboard that's hard to look away from — the footwork, the nose rides, the drawn-out turns that a shortboard simply can't do. As a surfer who appreciates the style and patience that good longboarding requires, it's one of my favourite things to photograph. Shooting from the water on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, I can get close to the action and capture the detail that makes longboard surfing what it is. The modern longboard echoes the dimensions of the boards ridden in the 1960s, refined through lightweight construction, contemporary rocker profiles, and modern fin design but the soul of the thing hasn't changed much. This portfolio is a collection of longboard surf photography shot at Freshwater Beach, Curl Curl, and surrounds. The natural home of Australian longboard culture.
