Winter (July to September)

Unfortunately for the surf fans I wasn't chasing surfing photos very much over the last three months. I've been a little bit obsessed with the little Fuji Xt30ii camera and seeking out compositions and colours around the village. I shot so much so, that I decided that I should create a seperate instagram account just for that work, and to give me more scope to include different aspects of Freshwater rather than just the beaches and surfing.

If you are interested, you can follow along at @postcardsfromfreshwater on instagram or via my specific page here too. I'm not sure where it will lead, but if you are a fan of Freshie you might like the vibe.

It seems I shot a very random selection over the last three months and a couple of projects that I've not done before. Event photography at the Brooky Surf Club opening night, the 50Up Circus performance at the Fringe festival and the annual Swellnet & Lifeline northern beaches yard sale. A bit more work for @butterbox website and socials. I was also incredibly honoured to be asked to capture a proposal at Freshie too.

Like I said a random selection.

Anyway enjoy the photos, and hopefully some more surfing images in the next issue.

That's right, all the artists below (except Alex in the white t-shirt) are over 50 years in age, some over 60. Just goes to show, age is what you let it define you. These were from the performance at the Sydney Fringe Festival.

To quote Jay Adams, from the OG Z-Boys. “You don’t quit skating because you get old... You get old because you quit skating.”

Jon and Lara

I had the absolute honour of being asked to photograph Jons proposal to Lara. Jon and I met ahead of time and made a few plans for the big day, we checked angles and timings. Jon had an excellent ruse to get Lara to the beach for sunrise.

Even though the forecast was for rain, the morning turned out brilliantly and the rain held off, and the sun made a brief appearance. It was very special to capture such a beautiful moment for this lovely couple.

Freshwater Beach already held a special place in their hearts, and even more so now.

And in other news...

I finally pulled the pin on upgrading my Aquatech water housing, so that I have access to some of the camera controls whilst in the water. Since it arrived I been busy at work and then sick, so I'm frothing to get it in the water and tick off some of the creative ideas that I've not been able to try with my older housing.
